Feeling it.

I wore:
Gap shirt, pants
Ralph Lauren shoes

One measure of adulthood comes when you think button-downs and khaki cropped pants are trendy. Maybe they are but I'm fairly sure student teaching has brainwashed me. Next thing you know I'll be sporting holiday sweaters. Yikes.

Save the Best for Last

I wore:
Anthropologie dress
Gap blazer
Target flats

I wore this last Friday and kept getting asked why I was so dressed up. What is an appropriate response to that question? "Oh, I'm just trying to get a boyfriend sooner rather than later" hardly seems like a good answer.

This week is off to a bit of a rough start and I am already pretty exhausted. Tomorrow is a big day- I'm having my final observation for student teaching and going to see Andrew Jenks. There's several errands  mixed in there too.

On a funny note, I graded vocabulary quizzes that seniors took last week. One of their vocabulary words was "quell" meaning to crush and they were required to use it in a sentence. The hunters in my class wrote "I ate quell for dinner." Oh homonyms, causing a ruckus.

Another  kid wrote "Ms. Hayes quells my hope of having a good day." Real cool.

Blue spell.

I wore:
Eddie Bauer cardigan
Gap blouse, belt
Loft skirt
Jessica Simpson boots

This outfit is a montage of blues, four to be exact. I'm not really sure why I thought mixing everything blue in my closet together would go together. But we can't live in the past now, can we?

What are you guys up to this weekend? My plan is to get as much work done as possible, both for the classes I teach and the classes I'm taking. There's a job application or two in that mix as well.  Also, Meller is visiting and it's supposed to be 80 degrees!

Happy (almost) weekend!

Lemonade and Watermelon

I wore:
Tucker for Target dress
Gap jacket/coat (joat?)
Hue tights
Steve Madden boots

I'm doing that elf thing again that I wrote about a few posts ago, except this time I look so tall in the right picture that it cut my head off. Speaking of elves, I wish Will Ferrell read this blog.

Do you ever forget words? It has been happening to me a lot lately and forces me to make analogies to get my point across. These analogies rarely come out the right way and if anything, just make me feel more idiotic. It's almost as embarrassing as confusing right and left.

Two toned.

I wore:
scarf from my mom
J.Crew Factory shirt
Gap cords
Steve Madden cords

We're getting another dining room table in our apartment. That means we'll have 2 dining room tables and 0 dining rooms. I guess we do have a dining room area but it's a part of the living room/kitchen extravaganza and definitely not large enough for two tables.

Technically I view our dining room table as an extra large desk where I spread out all my papers for school each night to prepare for the next day. My roommate Meredith uses it for the same purpose. With two tables, maybe we can pretend one is for lunch and the other supper. Men will never be able to resist a girl with TWO dining room tables, right?

Little Red Riding NOT

I wore:
J.Crew Factory shirt
Gap cords
Toms shoes

Since I have red pants on, I'll tell you all about the movie I saw this weekend- Red Riding Hood. It was not good. The trailers were intriguing but I didn't have high hopes for it. Somehow it still managed to disappoint me.

The biggest problem was the fact that the males in the movie were not handsome. Come on Hollywood, where have all the hotties gone? Another big problem was the fact that some of the characters attempted to feign a subtle British accent at different points, which made no sense as the movie was set in America.  And don't even get me started on the idea that the wolf was a werewolf and a poorly digitized one at that.

In short, don't see it. I wouldn't even spend the dollar when it comes out in Redbox.

30x30: 30 FINALLY

I wore:
Gap shirt, belt, skirt
Lucky brand booties

Doesn't the left picture look like an elfish version of the right picture in which my head was cut off? I kinda like it. It's very Honey, I Shrunk the Kids

Since there's no good transition, I'll just jump right in on the earth quake and tsunami in Japan. I have three Japanese cousins who live there and for most of Friday, were unreachable. It wasn't until late Friday night that somebody was able to get in touch with them. Everybody was fine but were still being affected by everything going on. Megumi, my cousin, was stranded at work and had to walk four hours to get back to her house and kids.

Though we haven't been able to see them for a while, it still takes my breath away to think about what they're going through and the friends they may lose or have lost already with all that's going on. I can tell I'm getting older when I begin to care about the effects of these things instead of complaining about them  interrupting my regularly scheduled programs on tv.

Keep praying for Japan, they need it.

30x30: 27-29

I wore:
Gap shirt, cords
Lucky brand shoes

J.Crew Factory caridgan
Gap shirt, cords
Lucky brand shoes

Gap shirt, jeans, shoes

I think I have a one-track mind. About an hour ago, I found out Andrew Jenks is coming to Greenville in a couple of weeks to speak at the university. Sitting still has become unbearable and now I can't quit having foolish middle school daydreams about him. It's like I just discovered *Nsync for the first time. Yikes.

I decided to do three outfits in one post because I'm lazy and the rain isn't helping that cause. It's been raining nonstop all day. Rain (along with candy, Fridays, early release days, and afternoons) makes high schoolers act wild. Sometimes that wild is funny, other times it's just plain obnoxious. We're starting a unit on Macbeth tomorrow and I'm a little anxious about it. Shakespeare isn't my favorite thing to read but the man was a genius- whether or not he stole all his works.

These are outfits 26-29. And that last picture is me pretending to be a model. Because that's how models pose.

30x30: 26

I wore:
Gap shirt, skirt
Worthington tights
Steve Madden boots
Necklace from Wal-Mart ($5!)

Let's talk about all the people I saw at the gym today- it was really quite a crowd.

When I first walked in, there appeared to be some sort of handsome man convention going on. Exciting, right? WRONG. They were all wearing those really disgusting homemade tank tops where the arm holes  practically go down to their waists. That's a deal breaker, ladies.

Another guy who worked at the gym was snacking on chips pretty much the whole time I was there. I'm not necessarily a chips fan but it doesn't seem like they should be consumed in a gym no matter what your opinion of them is. We're at least supposed to pretend to be healthy while we're there lifting those weights.

Sometimes I feel like I need to get in shape before going to the gym. The lady running beside me was like a human gazelle, just reading her fashion magazine and being all fit while I huffed and puffed through 30 minutes on the elliptical. Here's hoping that a shortness of breath turns into something a little more impressive.

30x30: 25

I wore:
Gap shirt, cords
Steve Madden boots

So Lent begins in about two hours and I'm still a little iffy on what to give up. I think I'm going to give up Friends. Not my companions and confidantes, but the tv show itself. I always find myself watching it instead of doing things that need to be done. In lieu of this immature addiction, I am going to dedicate one hour a day to reading something not school-related.

My typical move is to give up caffeine but I rarely have it nowadays, so it seems like a moot goal. Some of my students (jokingly, I hope) said they are giving up school and/or homework for Lent.

Are any of you participating in Lent? If so, what are you giving up?

30x30: 24

I wore:
J.Crew Factory sweater
Gap skirt
Steve Madden boots

This outfit felt like wearing a carnival, but slightly less tacky. I always have this debate in my head about whether or not to tuck things in or not. Days when I'm not feeling awesome, the shirt tails usually get left hanging out.  And since very few people feel awesome at 6:15 am, nothing's been getting tucked in lately.

That's enough of my ramblings. Hope you had a great weekend!

30x30: 23

I wore:
Gap shirt, shoes
Anthro skirt

I'm once again playing catch up with all these posts. I began teaching more and have spent much of the past week either reading, thinking about reading, or sleeping. It's wild to think that I'll have a Master's degree in three-ish months! I'm ready for it but the daunting task of what to do next takes some of the fun out of enjoying it.
