Bomb bomb bomb

I wore:
J.Crew Factory dress
Cardigan from T.J. Maxx
Gap belt
Worthington tights
Steve Madden boots

You guys. I had the most interesting day at school. The teacher I am interning with was out so I had to be a grown up and take care of all the kids while she was out. No biggie.

But then there was a bomb threat at school and we were in a lockdown mode for quite a while. Mega biggie.

Needless to say, I came home exhausted and took a two hour nap. I wish Friday had come earlier this week.

What a day.

I didn't know what to do with my  hands...

I wore:
Gap polka dotted blouse, skirt, shoes, headband
J.Crew Factory cardigan
Tights from Target

This outfit is high school girl approved. Three different girls complimented me today! And if there's one thing I've learned, high school girls don't lie about appearances.

Today was the last day of business at the Gap where I work part-time, which was bittersweet. Bitter because I won't have any more money, a sweet discount, or built in time with the people I worked with. Sweet because I will have weekends free and will no longer have to fold walls of denim.

Does this mean I'm a grown-up? Yikes.

This I Swear You Are.

I wore:
Gap shirt, belt
Anthropologie necklace
J.Crew Factory skirt
Steve Madden boots

The title of this post has nothing to do with the outfit. I just bought The Decemberists' new album and can't quit listening to this one song on repeat. I bet my roommates are not too happy about that.

Wanna hear a funny story? I wore a flesh colored long sleeve shirt underneath the white one today because I knew I'd freeze otherwise. But apparently the shirt was too close to my real skin tone. Whenever I would move my shirt to show people the necklace hiding underneath, they thought I was being a little too comfortable with myself. Joke's on them, all they saw was a t-shirt.

My personal goal for the night is to be in bed by 10:30 and that's only 20 minutes away! Good night!

Go with it.

I wore:
Anthropologie dress
Target belt
Worthington tights
Steve Madden Inka boots

I wore this last Friday to school and then on my drive home, which included a stop in Raleigh to see some friends and get dinner at Armadillo Grill...yum! I have to say, this is one of those outfits I loved wearing. I debated for about two weeks whether or not to keep this dress, which typically goes against my personal rule of returning an item if I haven't worn it within a week but I'm so glad I didn't.

Also, I was worried about looking like Barney (the dinosaur) when I put purple tights with that green pattern but Fridays tend to lend themselves to being a little adventurous. And this dress made me feel like a teacher without being matronly. Win-win!

Happy Monday! How was yours?

P.S. On Sunday, I was one of the "featured" bloggers on Blue Collar Catwalk! So exciting!

The British Are Coming!

I don't know why pictures turn out this way but I love when they do.
I wore:
Gap blazer, skirt
?? gray tights
Steve Madden boots

Today I met all the students I will be teaching this semester. They are a lively bunch of people and I'm excited to be around them everyday. One class has 32 seniors, one of whom asked if I was going to make them read anything...in English class. I think they are officially ready to graduate.

Senior English class is all about British literature and today I dressed as patriotic as can be without thinking twice. Oh well, I doubt anybody analyzes trivial things as much as I do.

Ahhh, time for bed. This new schedule of waking up at 6 am is a challenge!

Smurf legs.

I wore:
Gap shirt, belt
Loft skirt
Old Navy tights
Steve Madden boots

Every time I wear these tights, at least one person makes a smurf joke. Depending on my mood, I'll give them a satisfactory chuckle as if it was fun to be called a tiny blue man. But I didn't even have the chance today! Nobody called me a smurf and that is something to be thankful for.
Sorry for the short post- tomorrow is the start of a new semester at the high school and I have more prep to do before 7 am! And then there's the eternal question of what to wear...

Have a happy night!

A waste.

I wore:
Gap cardigan, t-shirt
J.Crew Factory scarf
J.Crew cords
Steve Madden boots

Today I rolled up to the high school where I'm doing my internship and unbeknownst to me, it was a casual day where everybody could wear jeans. I felt like I got jipped and had wasted a perfectly good outfit. Oh well, nothing anybody can do now.

Another thing- older women really LOVE this scarf. Today I went in Loft to see if I could find any good deals and three older women commented on how pretty it was. My grandma bought it for me, so I guess she knows what (middle-aged +) women want? Fine by me.

Happy fake Monday!

Jeggings!

I wore:
Gap long sleeved t-shirt, jeggings
Steve Madden boots

I'm so excited to be wearing jeggings! They really are comfy and other than being stretchier, there's not a noticeable difference between them and my other skinny jeans.

Today was one of those days where I just wanted to be comfortable and boy, did I succeed! When I got home from work tonight, I thought "I can't wait to get into my pajamas" but these jeggings are as good as any pj pants.

Solid mix.

I wore:
Target scarf
J. Crew factory sweater
Target skirt
____ tights
Steve Madden boots

Today was a grab and go kinda day where I just threw on whatever wasn't wrinkled after getting out of the shower. From the sounds of stomping around my apartment this morning, I wasn't the only one who hit the snooze one too many times.

Want to hear something funny? Nothing funny  happened today. The only time I remember laughing was at dinner when the most patriotically dressed toddler I've ever seen did a sort of jig-type of dance when his parents weren't looking. Other than that, it was a mundane day.

Something else to talk about: how many books there are in this world. Today while planning for next semester in the library, it hit me that I will never be able to read all the books. My friend Abby has a goal of reading 65 books this year, which is incredible. But even at that rate, you couldn't read everything there was to read.

On that note, I have to finish my reading in prep for the new semester!

Full-time first

I wore:
Gap shirt, skirt, belt
Tights from Wal-Mart
Steve Madden boots

Today was the first day of the rest of my life. It was also the first day that I began full-time student teaching (or interning, to be PC). Right now kids are taking exams, so my primary objective was to proctor and walk girls to and from the bathroom. I also laminated things.

I forgot to mention I did all that after a two hour delay! Delays and early releases are like hitting the public school jackpot. You get out of class and don't even have to make it up. I remember being excited about these when I was a student but now that I'm on the other side, I love them even more.

The best part is that we have another delay tomorrow. Four precious sleeping hours gained all because of some rain (yep, RAIN) that came a couple days ago. Life is good.

Yesterday's brother.

I wore:
Gap sweatshirt
J.Crew Factory scarf
J.Crew cords
Steve Madden boots

Guys, guess what I did today? Well, I vowed not to shop anymore and then went to Target. I had my first setback where I purchased 2 dresses, 2 shirts and a skirt. Altogether it was $34, so I don't feel too guilty.

And I also bought what I thought was red lipgloss. It was lipstain. Lipstain that has stayed on my lips for about 6 hours. I put it on in the parking lot because I was excited to have subtle red lips but there was NOTHING subtle about this stuff. Nobody's going to ask if maybe it's me, they'll definitely know it's Maybelline!

And now I'm sitting in my living room waiting on the repairman that was supposed to be here about 3 hours ago. Guess my sink will stay broken one more day.

Hello again!

I wore:
Gap sweater cardigan (swardigan)
Gap gingham shirt
J.Crew Factory skirt

Hello! I guess I got all wrapped up in gifts and exams the past month and forgot to take any pictures. Hopefully I won't forget anymore.

Yesterday was my first day back at school and it was so hard to get up while it was still dark out. Luckily it wasn't too cold and the students were too tired to make any trouble. It was funny to hear what they did over break. Some went on cruises while one guy spent his time trying to grow a soul patch.

I feel like most of my break was spent in a car driving from one place to the next but I was able to see a TON of people. Christmas was uneventful other than getting snowed in the day afterwards. I got some awesome gifts- including these boots!
